Connie is a unique asset of the Baker Deane & Nutt business in both Canberra and Queanbeyan speaking 2 languages and having official registration as a Migration Agent. Connie was born in South Korea and moved to Adelaide in 2000.
Connie started with Baker Deane and Nutt Lawyers in September of 2013 as having completed Bachelor of Law and Commerce from the Australian National University (ANU). Before deciding to go into law, Connie was torn between law and a career in music. She played double bass and piano and is now considering the opportunity to get back into double bass as an after-hours hobby.
Property conveyancing, subdivision and other non-residential property related matters as well as commercial matters are the main focus points of Connie’s role at BD&N, however she also specialises in wills and migration law. The migration law side of the business is an interesting line of work in that the broad scope of work within the category which gives Connie the opportunity to liaise with a range of international clients.
A job highlight for Connie is having the chance to meet a range of different people from all around the world and broadening her knowledge by coming across many different legal issues. Connie is fluent in Korean and regularly undertakes work for the Canberra Korean community and international clients. It can be a challenge to provide clients with the best advice, however Connie is highly skilled and can always resolve a clients’ needs effectively and efficiently.
Connie has a keen interest in property law and commercial law and aims to continue on this path alongside her skilled co-workers to learn and develop as much as possible. Migration law is still a passion of Connie’s as it has almost become like second nature to her.
When Connie is away from her desk she enjoys hiking and going to the gym as well as spending time with friends and family. Connie is also studying Master of Applied Law (Commercial Transactions) at the College of Law and learning Chinese (Mandarin) and French as a side hobby.
